PQR means: Procedure Qualification Record.
This qualification is carried out by a third party organization in charge of the validity of the welding parameters. The samples are welded in front of an inspector and then sent to a laboratory to be tested (hardness, macroscopy, traction, bending…), in order to validate the operating mode which will then be used to carry out WPS (Welding Procedure Specification).
The PQR is, therefore, a document recognizing the reliability of a weld performed according to a WPS subject to qualification and gives satisfactory results to the intended service.
For some companies, PQR may require special management. Imagine the scope of the task when there are several welds and many WPS – PQR, and that during the course of the project possible modifications of parameters by the customer or the standards in force are added.
Management established in Excel will show its limits in terms of usability and efficiency when the activity increases. Well-made formulas do not prevent errors and unfortunate modifications, especially when used by several people.
