NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING (NDT) WITH SIRFULL™ Welding

6 April 2018

A PROJECT IS NOT ONLY ABOUT WELDING, IT IS ALSO ABOUT CONTROLS.

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is a set of essential methods in many industrial sectors; including in boiler making/piping (particularly for petrochemicals, nuclear…) and critical assemblies (gas, building).

Occurring before, during and after a weld (and/or several passes), the management of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) can become a headache for a welding inspector in terms of paper and organization.

SIRFULL™ Welding offers you full monitoring of the Non-Destructive Testing (NDTs), as well as total management of the associated documentation (control records, repair reports).  These documents will be automatically traceable in data books and/or End of Manufacturing Reports (EMR).

Conduction of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

The management of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) involves the manufacturer, as it can be carried out internally by the welders themselves; when they are qualified according to EN 287 and when they are involved in operations related to the welding procedure. In other cases, operators qualified by the French Committee for Non-Destructive Testing (COFDREND) can do this.

In the event of anomalies or non-conformities, it is then necessary to compare them with the tolerances of the standards and sometimes make corrections on any failures. These anomalies will, of course, be checked in turn.

ISSUES OF NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING (NDT) IN WELDED PRODUCTION

Thus, the issues and workloads involved in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) are numerous for the manufacturer:

  • Identify the internal skills to carry out the NDT on a given case;
  • Identify the number and nature of controls to be carried out concerning the welds to be carried out for a case, welding procedures and manufacturing standards;
  • Associating and coordinating control operations as well as possible repairs;
  • Compile the paper documentation necessary for quality management and traceability of the operations carried out in the case.

In the theme devoted to quality, the rigour and know-how of the manufacturer as part of its NDT monitoring is one of the modalities observed as part of an ISO 3834 quality approach. It is worth recalling that ISO 3834 – specifying the quality requirements appropriate to welding processes – is a prerequisite in:

  • Some invitation to tender ;
  • Products standards:

.EN 12952-5 – Boiler

.EN 12732 – Pipework

.EN 13445 – Pressure equipment

.EN 14025 – ADR tanks

.Etc.

  • Specific certifications:

EN 1090 – Framework

EN 15085 – Railway vehicle

Advantages of SIRFULL™ Welding  for NDT management

  • Save hours on the administration of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT);
  • Accelerate your business with better coordination and allocation of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).

SIRFULL™ Welding ensures smooth management of the documentation associated with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), as well as automated management of the tests on a given case.

Fast projects’ reporting: Inspection reports, certifications of your welders etc., are saved in SIRFULL™ Welding and offers you complete, printable and traceable welding documentation throughout your projects.

Accelerated control process: On a given business/project, you are able with SIRFULL™ Welding to know at any time via an easy to use interface:

.who is responsible for the checks;

.Where, how many and which ones;

.What are the results;

.What repairs to do.

Therefore, SIRFULL™ Welding provides you with a clear list of welds to be inspected, as well as an analysis of their results.
